Clean Water Access for Communities

Community borehole construction and sustainable water infrastructure across Kenya

Clean Water Access Program

The Clean Water Access Program is the primary initiative of Nizar Foundation. The program designs and builds community boreholes and water systems in areas lacking reliable safe drinking water across Kenya.

Developed in response to direct community need, the program focuses on permanent infrastructure rather than temporary aid. Each completed borehole serves households, schools, institution and local health centers, reducing waterborne disease and daily travel distance for families.

The foundation oversees implementation and long term monitoring to ensure functionality and community ownership.

What we do

• Drill and construct community boreholes

• Dedicate completed boreholes to the local community for shared public use

• Install hand pumps and water distribution points

• Provide filtration and safe storage systems

• Train local community members to manage water points

• Maintain and repair installed water infrastructure over time

What makes this program different

• Permanent infrastructure rather than short term aid

• Ongoing maintenance after installation

• Community ownership of water points

• Support for schools and health centers

• Hygiene and sanitation education
